This sophomore effort by writer Sassa Poulkou is an interesting fall into musical eroticism and obsession with the musician Bryan Ferry. The book is a compilation of Ferry’s pictures and lyrics, interview excerpts, lists of his songs and diary prose.
And the prose is a sensual, confusing blend of an addict who has complete mastery over her language. In the narrator’s own words as lifted from the book, “A metaphysical landscape took me out of convention…I had completely subjugated myself, to the musical theme of my heart.”
This book is for anyone who wants to go on a wild, disjointed trip through an obsessed fan’s heart and mind. If you’ve ever been interested in Bryan Ferry, this is the book for you. But be prepared to follow the narrator as, in her own words, “I prayed for him and knelt down to the toes of his feet…”
